01 · Review

Start with algebra

In this example, the student often solves correctly but stops before answering the quantity requested. Reviewing that pattern gives the next session a focus.

02 · Reflect

Explain the mistake

“I treated the value of x as the final answer. Next time I will underline what the question asks before I solve.” Save that reflection in the Correction Log.

03 · Practice

Check the same skill again

Try a short practice set, then revisit the concept tomorrow without notes. A repeated error tells you what still needs work.

Example answer explanation

If 3x + 4 = 19, what is 2x?

Example student answer: 5. Correct answer: 10.

Subtract 4 to get 3x = 15, then divide by 3 to find x = 5. The question asks for 2x, so multiply 5 by 2. The answer is 10.

Finding x correctly is only an intermediate step. Returning to the requested quantity is the habit to practice.
